Ever since freshman year of high school, I had always hoped for an LGBTQ+ group or club. I wanted a place where people could feel safe and supported by others who were just like them. This year, my last year at Hancock High, I hope to make that wish come true. I met a girl named Sofia Ann who I talked about this idea with and now we're here to start a petition to make this all happen.
With this club, I hope we can spread awareness throughout the school and fight the misconceptions towards the LGBTQ+ community. Being an LGBT student in high school can be tough; most have to endure bullying, dysphoria, or other hardships but with this group, I hope we can be supportive of each other and stand up for who we are.
