There is currently no bike-accessible skatepark in the Northeast Columbia Area. In Fact, there are only about three bike-accessible skateparks in the state of South Carolina. With the growing rate of freestyle BMX in Northeast Columbia, it would be safe to keep the participants off of the busy streets and into a healthy environment.

We, the undersigned, support BMX bikes being allowed into the Plex Indoor Sports Complex.
It is a common misconception that BMX bicycles in skateparks create a dangerous environment. BMX bicycles are equipped with brakes and are highly maneuverable, making them at least as safe as the skateboards and inline skates that are permitted in most skateparks. Many cities around the country already recognize this by permitting BMX bicycles into publicly funded skateparks, where they co exist with other skatepark users. Countless private skateparks already demonstrate that any and all skatepark designs are compatible with BMX bicyckes.
For all of the reasons above and more, we, the undersigned, recognize the need for bikes to be allowed into the Plex Indoor Sports Complex, so that BMX bicycles will have a place that is accessible, safe, and lets BMX bicyclists enjoy their sport.
