One-fifth of all traffic fatalities among children ages 14 and under are related to pedestrian crossings.
Children under the age of 14 are more vulnerable to pedestrian injuries in high traffic areas because of their developmental and sensory inabilities to look and react to oncoming traffic.
Forty percent of traffic related pedestrian death among school children occur between 4pm and 8pm.
We, the undersigned, request you to install road signs, speed limits and High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) signals at the Evergreen county road to ensure the safety of our school children crossing at that point of the road.
