PETITION SOUTHAMPTON COUNCIL LEADER SIMON LETTS TO RE-OPEN KENTISH RD RESPITE CENTRE FOR DISABLED PEOPLE. WE SAY NO TO FLAT DEVELOPMENTS
The centre was prematurely axed in 2017 for NO FINANCIAL GAIN! It was a vital facility offering a life line to carers. It was an inhumane decision leaving families in Care Crisis.
The alternative provisions DO NOT meet the needs for the more Complex users. The unsuitable offers of smaller 2bed units are only going to institutionalise the service user, sever a whole community, and broken friendship bonds.
City council bosses say it leads to better outcomes, independence and more tailored facilities. Parents and carers have proved this is a very bad outcome and now families are left in 'Care Crisis'. situation!! We Do Not place our loved one in respite to become independent, we place them in respite to simply get a break to prevent us reaching breaking point!!
We believe re opening the centre is the right thing to do to ensure that the most vunerable in society are not left without regular respite or cover in an emergency.
WE NEED THE SUPPORT OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND THEIR VOICES HEARD.
SCC SAID - IT WAS TO SAVE THEM £300,000 a year. -,WE PROVED THEM WRONG. #WarwickPayne
THEY THEN SAID - IT LEADS TO BETTER OUTCOMES AND WIDER RANGE OF SERVICES - WE PROVED THEM WRONG #PaulJuan as the alternatives do not have the capacity to accommodate.
THEY NOW BLAME IT ON GOVERNMENT CUTS #SimonLetts WHEN IT WAS A LOCAL DECISION THEREFORE TARGETING THE DISABLED FOR POLITICAL GAIN!
WE SAY NO TO CLOSURE TO SCC.
WE SAY SCC HAVE BREACHED THE CARE ACT, HUMAN RIGHTS ACT, DEPRAVATION OF THEIR LIBERTIES.
GIVE THEM BACK THEIR CENTRE!!!!!!
