Whereas the Ukrainian law on mandatory use of the red flag during Victory Day celebrations on May 9 is a provocation to the Ukrainian nation; and
Whereas, the law is disrespectful to the memories of all those who died for Ukraine's liberation, freedom and independence; and
Whereas the proposed law will divide Ukraine and is an insult to the memory of those who died at the hands of Soviet repression.
Therefore, the undersigned petitioners urge President Yanukovych to veto this provocative law.
