NOTE: This petition is only for those who are members of the Delta Hospice Society. If you are not yet a member, please refrain from signing, as it is the membership alone that can move to make changes to the current board of directors.

The newly elected board of directors of the Delta Hospice Society are going against the law of the land by denying access to MAID; Medical Assistance In Dying, at the Irene Thomas Hospice, The hospice is a publicly funded and secular facility and is on publicly owned property. The Delta Hospice Society receives most of its monies from public funding and the lease is heavily subsidized as it was built by, and in service to, the citizens of Delta. Denying those citizens their lawful right to avail themselves of MAID, if desired, is underhanded and inhumane.

We, the undersigned members of the Delta Hospice Society, exercise our right to call a special meeting of the Delta Hospice Society within the 60 days allotted by the Societies Act. We also put forth a special resolution, as provided by the Societies Act of BC, to remove the current board of directors for acting against the wishes of the community in regards to the permitting of MAID: Medical Assistance In Dying, at the Irene Thomas Hospice, a right given to all citizens of Canada.
