- Florida Legislature
- United States of America
The Tenth Amendment provides that “powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
It is our belief that the federal government has consistently over-stepped its constitutional boundaries and usurped the powers reserved to the states, and therefore the people.
A Florida Sovereignty Resolution will remind the federal government of its proper role and place.
Is Florida alone in this movement? The answer is no. There are no less than 26 states (update #1- 28 states now)(update #2- 30 states now)(update#3- 31 states now) (update #4 - 37 states) that are claiming and/or planning similar legislation.
The State Sovereignty movement clearly arises from the belief that the balance of power has tilted too far and too long in the direction of the federal government and that it’s time to restore that loose balance.
So, would you please join us in support of a Florida Sovereignty Resolution by signing the petition?
On July 1, 2009 A Florida Sovereignty Memorial (HM 19) was introduced by State Representatives Workman and Plakon calling on the Florida Legislature to claim "sovereignty under the tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the Federal Government by the Constitution"...and to demand that the Federal government "cease and desist, effectively immediately, from issuing mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers."
Also to note:- this is NOT the place for racial or hate comments.
