This is a petition to get public bus services to improve the access when getting onto a bus for the disabled and elderly, and all other public users.

Plus to encourage more timetable options for disabled to access, encourage bus drivers to train to be able to push wheelchairs up the bus ramp onto the bus and to get public transport budgets protected from lowering, so the public don't have to face ticket fare rises.

I feel that something has to be done about this as i am disabled myself and have had a lot of trouble with public bus routes.

The problems I have had are:

1. Drivers not lowering the ramp or using the Hydraulics to lower the bus.

2. Busses pulling up with steps so if you are in a wheelchair such as myself you cannot get on the bus.

The same applies for the elderly, because if the bus has steps the elderly might find it hard to get onto the bus.

3. Drivers not helping people in wheelchairs up the ramp onto the bus due to health and safety regulations or sometimes choice!

4. Disabled Friendly busses have been taken off route and replaced by coaches while wheelchair users are out and about, which had used the disabled friendly bus on that day to get to where they wanted then ended up having to pay for and use a taxi to get home instead.

5. Disabled people not being able to use their concessionary pass as often as they would like such as myself, due to lack off disabled busses.

6. Disabled people not getting enough room in the disabled area of the bus due to not enough wheelchair and pushchair space.

We, the undersigned, call on the British Government to Improve the Public Transport Infrastructure for Disabled and Elderly users.
