Introduced by Senator Cory Booker and Representative Steven Horsford, the Break the Cycle of Violence Act (2021) addresses gun violence as a community issue. This crisis has been especially affecting Black communities in the USA, demonstrating the nation's racial inequity once again. The Break the Cycle of Violence Act would intervene in the matter through a series of programs; outreach, intervention, trauma response, job training, and more. It would also create a Department of Health and Human Services, which would include an Office of Community Violence Intervention with a committee, A National Community Violence Response Center, and a 5 Billion Dollar Federal Grant Program. In addition, there would be a 1.5 Billion Dollar Federal Grant Program for the Department of Labor to fund the aforementioned job training.

This act addresses a nationwide issue that has been prevalent in our country for far too long. The unrestricted use of guns has led to violence in neighborhoods, schools, and many other public places. By signing this petition, you will be urging the United States Senate to pass the Break the Cycle of Violence Act, introduced to the Senate by Senator Cory Booker and many others on June 24th, 2021, which provides sensible intervention to a severe problem in our nation.
