Otisco Pride: No to Andor

The Town of Otisco is currently reviewing a proposal for a luxury development, by Andor Projects. If granted, Andor Projects would build a 600 acre Spa and Wellness Community in the heart of this rural community that we all love and want left undisturbed.

According to Andor Projects Presentation:

•This enormous development would cover 600 acres of land near Octagon and Ripley Roads. It will cover all of Vesper Hills Golf Course and additional surrounding land. This includes 300 residential condominiums, single family housing, 80 luxury suite room hotel, 30 vacation chalets, convention center, new 18 hole golf course, spa and restaurant. It’s projected to have retail shopping consisting of bakery and cafe, butcher, micro brewery, country store, gift shop, sport outfitters, and jellorium. It also would include a 2 acre playground for adults, outdoor amphitheater, weight management center, and indoor athletic center.

•To build this development, Andor Projects will have to install sewers and water lines, nothing this area has ever had. The amounts of runoff caused by the sewers and water lines needed for this development could have devastating effects on the natural environment, including Otisco Lake and all the residents with wells that sit below Vesper Hills.

•Over 300 acres of forest and hill plains will be cleared for the development. Wildlife that are natural habitants of the area will be forced out, as their natural balance is destroyed.

•The normally silent hills of Otisco would experience sustained noise levels previously unknown. Our formerly starry nights will be blocked out by the millions of lights at Andor Spa and Wellness Community.

•The amount of traffic seen in the area would soar. This will cause excessive damage to the roads, and require substantially higher care to all roads in a number of towns surrounding Andor Spa and Wellness Community. It is unseen how this drastic change will be funded. Many farm vehicles also use these roads to take care of the farm land. An increase in traffic will interfere with the ability of the farmers to take care of their land that they depend on.

Many people in Otisco are alarmed by the magnitude of landscape and soundscape degradation that will occur if this development proceeds and the inevitable changes to the life that residence of this area desire to live. The development would devalue the scenic beauty of the land. It will indisputably transform the ecosystem of this area and all living habitants. We would lose pristine nature in close proximity to the proposed development area.

The addition of your name to this petition will send a loud and clear message to the Town of Otisco and Town Supervisor Wayne S. Amato that this proposed project should be denied.
