Target:
All Frustrated Online Job Seekers and Applicants
Region:
United States of America

This act is for anyone who is as frustrated as me with how online job applications are managed by companies. Personally, I think if a company is not willing to abide by 1 of the 3 common sense online job posting rules, that company doesn't value people and their limited time on this Earth. Frankly, I do not trust a company that keeps even their applicants in the dark about their application process

I believe in the era of "online application only," that there needs to these basic rights given to hopeful wide-eyed employees:

1) A jobseekers must be able to read the exact days, hours, and location of the job he or she is applying to. This ensures a jobseekers is not going to be surprised during an interview with days and hours he or she is unable work due to other obligations. By not providing this information up front, jobseekers waste a lot of time and energy applying to jobs that won't work out in the end. It also gives an employer an applicant that is truly better suited for the job and is willing to give your company 150% while working.

2) Employers must respond within 48 hours to a jobseeker who has applied online via call, text, or email. If a jobseekers application has been automatically rejected, I believe it is a basic common sense right for applicants to know quickly if he or she has been selected for an interview. This, again, is beneficial for both the jobseeker and employer. The jobseeker can keep on applying to other jobs instead of anxiously waiting a week or more for an acceptance or rejection email. For the employer, this will save time and energy fielding calls and emails from rejected applicants.

3) Finally and most importantly, ALL jobs that are posted online and, for example, to which a jobseeker spends hours on creating a perfect cover letter for MUST ACTUALLY EXIST. A company must be barred from posting a job that does not exist. Does not exist, meaning:

If on a company's website, a job is posted that interoffice contracts haven't been finalized on or there really is no real budget for said position. That position does not exist as a fully formed and secure position and is an outright lie to jobseekers.

For example, if a clinical laboratory company posts a job working for a doctor's office as a lab tech, the clinical laboratory company must finalize all contracts with the doctor's office prior to posting said lab tech position. Cancelling the posted lab tech job, for example, due to the doctor backing out of using the clinical laboratory company must be a chargeable offense. Keeping in partner with prohibiting pre hiring job cancellations, any online posting by a company must have a budget ready upon posting to prevent a delay in hiring. Again, posting a job that there is no budget ready for is an all out lie to jobseekers. It is a waste of time, energy, and money to sit around waiting for a job that has no real ability to be funded as soon as it's posted.
