- Mayors and decision makers of St Kilda Road precinct
As one of the greatest boulevards in the world, there is some dismay as to why the name has never been changed, even though 150 years ago, St Kilda Road was redeveloped as a boulevard.
"To call St Kilda Road (Melbourne) a road does not do it justice" says MTR presenter Steve Price.
"The definition of a boulevard- or - even an avenue, there's a thought - is a major tree-lined street. St Kilda Road is much more a boulevard, which is more descriptive of the street" Lord Mayor Robert Doyle.
3AW's Derryn Hinch says "...For years there were signs along this road describing it as 'one of the world's great boulevards.' Let's make it official."
