The practise of female genital mutilation is a barbaric act and must be punishable by the full rigours of the law. Medical procedures with no benefit are unethical—especially when inflicted without consent, on children.
Female genital mutilation is a barbaric practice which has absolutely NO PLACE in a modern society.
We the undersigned call on the minister for Justice to legislate for a mandatory 14 year sentence (without parole) and immediate and automatic deportation on release for any person who arranges, aids or carries out female genital mutilation in Ireland.
