ATTENTION NEW SOUTH WALES HORSE OWNERS...

Are you aware that the New South Wales State Government is considering introducing an annual Licence or Registration Fee for horses?

This is one of the recommendations made following a wide ranging review into the structure of the NSW Rural Lands Protection Board in this state.

The results of this review have just been made public and include a number of recommendations that will have damaging effects on rural services, rural communities and livestock (horse) owners.

This is little more than a de-facto Equine Influenza levy and yet another money grab from this Government, at a time when horse owners are still recovering from the effects of the Equine Influenza crisis!

PLEASE DO NOT SIT ON YOUR HANDS!! HELP US STOP THE INTRODUCTION OF THIS CHARGE!!

CONTACT YOUR LOCAL MP's AND THE MINISTER AND SHADOW MINISTER FOR AGRICULTURE, AND PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU CAN THINK OF WHO MIGHT HELP US TO PREVENT THIS BILL AND OTHER SIMILAR REGULATIONS BEING PASSED!

and the

and your local State MP's as well.

We, the undersigned, request that the the New South Wales Minister for Agriculture and the State Government refrain from implementing the following recommendations of the Integrated Marketing Communications Pty Ltd review into the structure of the NSW Rural Lands Protection Board (RLPB),

"Opportunities (p30)
Provision of registration for horses, and other non-commercial livestock classes as required"..

"All non-commercial or recreational livestock in the new board regions should be included on RLPB databases and this livestock should be subject to an annual registration or license fee."

We strongly object to the the implementation of this recommendation as we feel that it is aimed specifically at horse owners. Horses are already recorded on the RLPB database and an 'Annual Registration Fee' is little more than a de-facto EI-Levy and is simply another money-grabbing exercise from the NSW State Government. Any such fee will place yet another burden on the horse owners of NSW and will further impact their enjoyment of their animals and participation in a range of activities.

We also wish to record our objections to any similar schemes that may be considered by any other State Government now or in in the future!
