RaceTrac NEEDS this special "Conditional Use Permit" to Build.
Say “NO” to the Racetrac and their Conditional Use Permit!

How can you help support saying “NO”!

1. Sign this petition.
We ask that you please only sign this petition once and make your signature/name public and not “anonymous” to show the planning commission and town council that they are authentic signatures of concerned residents of the community. Making it “anonymous” could leave a signature open to question.

2. Please Attend the Braselton Planning Commission Meeting
Monday, April 23rd at 7 pm at 5040 Hwy 53 at the Braselton Police and Municipal Court Building. Please wear a green shirt (any shade is fine) to show support for Smart Growth and more Green Space per the Master Plan of Braselton.

3. Attend the Mayor and Town Council Work Session
Thursday, May 10th at 4 pm at 5040 Hwy 53 at the Braselton Police and Municipal Court Building. This meeting is important because the council and mayor hear public comments and decide/set the agenda for the following Monday Night Voting Meeting. Please wear a green shirt (any shade is fine) to show support for Smart Growth and more Green Space per the Master Plan of Braselton

4. Attend the Mayor and Town Council Monthly Voting Meeting
Monday, May 14th at 7 pm at 5040 Hwy 53 at the Braselton Police and Municipal Court Building. This meeting will be the vote to approve/deny the proposed development. Please wear a green shirt (any shade is fine) to show support for Smart Growth and more Green space per the Master Plan of Braselton

Braselton does NOT allow this type of business in this area, as explained in article 13, to PRESERVE the areas viability, infrastructure demands, and to prevent BLIGHT, and DECREASED PROPERTY VALUES, the town believes that unique regulations may be warranted to address this area unlike those of other parts of the town...this area directly impacts the HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELL-BEING of this corridor.

Resident concerns:
*Additional traffic on Hwy 211 to and from Interstate 85 will add to the already overburdened road
* Thompson Mill Road will become a bottleneck with traffic attempting to turn in and out of the gas station onto an already overburdened Hwy 211 at Grand Hickory
*currently there is not the proper traffic signals and infrastructure to move the traffic through the hospital activity center, let alone the additional traffic that this Racetrac would bring
* Nothing more should be build in the hospital activity center until the widening of 211 is complete from Interstate 85 down to Friendship Road
• The gas station will increase the likelihood of a pedestrian and/ or golf carts using the adjacent life path being struck.
*There are Light and Noise Pollution concerns with a 24/7 Gas Station in a residential area
• Concerns the site will have three retention ponds rather than underground drainage
• Concerns about safety due to unpatrolled buffer area behind the gas station.

Gas Stations can DECREASE AREA HOME VALUE, have increased FIRE HAZARD risk, DO cause 24 hour LIGHT POLLUTION, have higher CRIME RATES , and can cause GAS LEAKAGE INTO our underground drinking water source.
