On deviantart.com, on the front page there is a section called "Today's
favourites". Basically its artwork that has been added to a number of
people's favourite lists. Unfortunately, some people get so jealous that they
flame the artist, when they have no control over who favourites it. They
don't say "OMG OMG FAV THIS OR ILL KILL YOU!!!1" or "Please fav this." or
something similar. They can't help it if they're "popular"; the community
decides. Sometimes an "unknown" artist manages to make it to the front
page.
What happens to those people? "Omg, you have lyk no talent, get off
the front page you fag" The only control deviantARTists have is what goes
on their page, not everyone elses. Quite a few of those artists have put it in
writing on their art or journals that this happens. They shouldn't have to.
While you can disable it when you log into the front page, most people don't.
I call for the people in charge of dA to get rid of it so that only subscribed
artists can look at them.
We, the undersigned, call for deviantART to disable the "Today's Favourites"
section on the front page for unsubscribed users. It causes angst in artists that make it there due to the jealous flamers who say that the people who make it onto the front page shouldn't be there, when it's not their fault it happens and occasionally there's a glitch in the system that causes art with only a few favourites to make it onto the front page.
"Popular" artists have commented on it in their journals and art descriptions, and some have even had to disable comments on their deviations to prevent it from happening.
Others abuse this "power" and make their watchers flame people who they
don't like. It shouldn't happen at all.
