A joint report by The East of England Regional Assembly and the Department for Communities has identified the need for 1220 more Gypsy Camps in Eastern England with a provisional figure of 157 for Basildon.
This could amount to around 3,000 Gypsies from all over Europe arriving on Basildon soil.
The people of Basildon appreciate their environment and will not tolerate any abuse of their Greenbelt areas.
Basildon Council should do whatever it takes to protect our environment, even if it means withdrawing financial support and termination of our membership from the East of England Regional Assembly.
We, the undersigned, call on Basildon Council to reject plans for any more Gypsy camps and if necessary withdraw membership from the East of England Regional Assembly.
