Compasssion Industry of Santa Cruz is being served with the 2 existing dispensaries in Harvey West, alongside with Wamm's operations. Currently servicing only 18-%-20% city, and 25% of those living in the County of Santa Cruz. Over 65% of those serviced currently, don't even live in the area.

*The Marijuana drug culture in close proximity to thriving businesses and residential neighborhoods creates a host of safety issues. There are schools, recreational parks, rehabilitation centers and a concentration of family friendly businesses within 500 feet of the proposed facility. Business will suffer. Weapon carrying individuals will increase. Loitering will be rampant, and children will be at risk. Additional traffic and environmental abuse concerns are also an issue.

*Any tax revenue generated will be inaccurate, due to the unregulated nature of how co operatives function. Marijuana co ops rarely pay taxes, if they do, it is never in true proportion to their sales. Marijuana does NOT fall into the same tax category as prescription drugs or even herbal medicines. If any sales tax is ever paid, it would be inaccurate.

*The Santa Cruz planning department voted against the additional dispensary in November with a vote of 5 opposed and 2 approved.

We, the undersigned, support City Planning's recommendation to limit the amount of Medical Marijuana Dispensaries within the City of Santa Cruz to two.

We feel the Compassion Act is being currently met.
