In light of the events which took place on Tuesday the 8th of March, 2011 we demand that the NHL's administration take further measures to ensure (as much as possible) that irresponsible hits be abolished from the NHL and the sport of hockey.
The "Pacioretty-Chara" incident is not an isolated one. These behaviours have been acknowledged by the NHL but preventative actions taken by the league are not ample.
The NHL must implement a secondary party; a panel composed of non-partisans that will be involved in the decision-making process for disciplinary sanctions.
We, the undersigned, call upon the NHL to implement a secondary party system to regulate the disciplinary sanctions for illegal hits.
This party should be composed of non-partisans who will collaborate with the NHL's Director of Hockey Operations amongst others, in order to reach the most astute consensus possible.
