Cruise Travel is booming in Australia. It is estimated that the cruise sector will contribute AU$1 billion into the economy by 2010.
Yet the Port of Sydney is approach capacity, and will soon be unable to handle the volume of cruise traffic visiting Sydney.
Over the coming 2009 cruise season, capacity issues in Sydney will see Major Cruise Ship’s unloading passengers in the middle of Sydney Harbour. Because Berths will simply be unavailable.
We are petitioning the NSW & Australian Federal governments to establish a secondary international cruise terminal at Garden Island, Port Botany or alternative location close to Sydney.
And in the shorter term allow greater access to Garden Island for Cruise Ships visiting in 2009 /2010.
We the cruise passenger deserves to access to the best available cruise products.
A secondary international cruise terminal in Sydney is the only way we can ensure that cruise lines currently servicing the Australian market; continue to service the Australian Market.
Please let our politicians know that we need a new terminal.

We, the undersigned, call on the NSW Government, NSW Tourism, Sydney Ports Corporation & the Australia Federal Government to:
1. Establish a secondary international cruise
terminal at Garden Island, Port Botany or an
alternative location close to Sydney, Australia.
That is able to handle the large cruise ships
now visiting Australia. Ships of over 100,000
tons.
2. Until the establishment of a secondary
international cruise terminal, allow greater
access to the Garden Island Naval Facility for
Cruise Ships.
Australians and International Visitors to Australia deserve to have access to the best available cruise products.
A secondary international cruise terminal in Sydney is the only way we can ensure that cruise lines currently servicing the Australian market; continue to service the Australian Market.
