My name is Sierra Coulter, a freshman Marketing (Sales) and Psychology student here at NCA&T SU. This email is an attempt to bring attention to issues surrounding our meal plans. As you are aware of, there are different meal plans each student can choose from.

In addition to Williams Dinning (the Cafe) there are other options where you can eat. Simply To Go is one of these alternatives that offers students an option of food that is served in the Cafe to be eaten on the go. My concern is about the number of times one can swipe their card at Simply To Go within a one week period. like many of you, I have the unlimited meal plan.

This plan offers unlimited use of the cafe, 5 guest passes, and $75 flex dollars at a price of $1,337.50 per semester. According to Auxiliary Services (336-334-7876, auxserv@ncat.edu) as well as Sodexo (336-334-7560), Simply To Go is merely an extension of the cafe in a case when you cannot take the time to sit down and eat a meal, not as a substitute for a meal plan. With the purchase of the unlimited meal plan, according to policy, you can only utilize Simply To Go ten times in one week.

Why does this concern you? Having a set number of meals per week should mean you can choose how you want to spend those meals. Since the food served in Simply To Go is the same as that in the Cafe, students should be able to have access to Simply To Go just as they would the Cafe.

I am asking for your help to have this policy changed, so the number of meals students receive as defined by policy does not dictate where we are allowed to use our meals we have already paid for.

We, the undersigned, call on Auxiliary Services to eliminate the specification on where and how a student may use their allotted number of meals per week.
