Sexual Assault on college campuses is as prevalent as it ever has been, and the University of Michigan is no exception. While the university's Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC) is a great resource for educating students on both the facts on sexual assault and how to prevent it, it is extremely underutilized.

Many students lack the knowledge and awareness to prevent such a threatening issue.

Michigan has hundreds of undergraduate student organizations with over 10,000 members. If the Center for Campus Involvement required that SAPAC taught a one hour workshop with every student organization each year, many more students could learn about how to prevent sexual assault.

The goal is first to educate the student population on sexual assault, then to minimize its occurrence on our campus as much as possible.

We, the undergraduate population at the University of Michigan, call upon the university's Center for Campus Involvement (CCI) to require the implementation of Sexual Assault Prevention workshops for all registered student organizations.

Every student in every student organization must complete a one hour in-person education session, conducted by the Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Center (SAPAC) in order to participate in the organization.

We ask that the CCI mandate a provision in each organization's constitution for annual compliance with this program.

The goal is first to educate the student population on sexual assault, then to minimize its occurrence on our campus as much as possible.
