Since stop signs are routinely ignored and traffic speed is not enforceable making the street a one way and changing the speed limit will reduce the amount of cut through traffic thus reducing the risk of injury to the many children and residents of that area. In addition the quantity of vehicles and large trucks that customarily travels through this neighborhood has created noise pollution.
The quality of life for the residents is compromised by the amount of traffic traveling through this neighborhood at great speed. There are many alternate traffic routes so motorist will not be inconvenienced. This has been done successfully at Woodleigh Road and W Hillcrest Ave as well as many other streets in our township.
We respectfully request that all of our citizens be provided with the opportunity to enjoy a safer, quieter place to reside.
We, the undersigned residents of Maryland Avenue, petition that you reduce the speed limit to 15 miles per hour and make Maryland Ave a one way street from 1302 Maryland Ave to 1359 Maryland Ave. With the exception of School Busses (Traffic may not continue South East on Maryland Ave at 1359 corner of Holmes and Maryland).
