MANDATORY 14TH & 15TH MONTH PAY TO EMPLOYEES

Presidential Decree 851 requiring all employers to pay their employees a 13th Month Pay was issued by Ferdinand Marcos on December 16, 1976 or 41 years ago. Its about time that a 14th month pay and 15th month pay be made mandatory. Why? Because the employers are never going to pay it voluntary even with the big profits they are earning. Look around us. There are new highways, big malls, towering office buildings rising everywhere, owners flying in helicopters and driving around in Benzes and Ferraris. We hear about their frequent travels abroad, their kids studying In the US or Europe. And how they boast that their companies are world class companies able to compete with the best companies out there. But how much are they paying their employees?. They're paying minimum wage which is basically slave wage to sustain their lavish lifestyles. And If it weren't mandatory minimum wage you can be sure they will even pay less. You should also be asking why no one, not a president, senator or congressman or even organized union and labor groups has proposed this long time ago.
