Making a skate park in Manchester

We are five local teenagers who have lived in Manchester for all of our lives. There are no outdoor free local skate parks in this area or any hangouts for teens where they can stay out of trouble.

This will be a great place where kids of all ages will come skateboard, BMX and, etc. This will keep kids out of trouble by keeping them physically active and away from drugs and alcohol. This will keep kids off the streets and not skating/BMX in prohibited areas. For example, schools, businesses, and parking lots. I know many kids who would be thrilled to have it and their parents would be happy that there doing something active and making new friends.

I, Chris Slyman and Jack Winters went to Grand Haven, Michigan this summer. Grand Haven had an outdoor skate park which was open to the public. I went to the skate park every day and I had a blast. I made a lot of friends which made it more fun. While I was there I was thinking of how Manchester would be a perfect town for this. It would bring the kids of Manchester and neighboring towns together.

The skate park would give more business to local skate and bike shops. It will be low maintenance because it is made of concrete, so it wouldn’t cost any money after being built. South County and Kirkwood has outdoor skate parks but is too far of a drive.

There are many places for this to take place. For example, Schroeder Park or highland bluffs area. The skate park doesn’t have to be big, so it can fit in any small open place. The skate park will not be a liability because you will skate/BMX at your own risk.
