With the majority of Zimbabweans earning between USD200 and USD300, it boggles the mind how authorities at universities have pegged their fees at almost USD600 for undergraduate programs.Students like me, enrolled for block release programs are funding their own education from merger salaries. They have to meet other costs such as private wifi to attend classes online since the major chunk of their semester activity is online. As it stands, most, if not all students are not in a position to be able to register for the upcoming semester. What does that mean to most of us? It simply means dropping out. The consequences of that dropping out will certainly be felt by the whole country. How can development in various sectors of the economy be realized when only a few can afford tertiary education?
We, the undersigned, call upon the Midlands State University to reduce it's fees to reasonable levels, especially considering block release students who undoubtedly have many other expenses to meet in order to continue with their studies.
