Sometimes, Politicans like to win cheap political points by putting out campaigns that look something like this:
"SIGN THIS PETITION IF YOU WANT GUN WORLD AUSTRALIA TO REMOVE THEIR BILLBOARD
We, the undersigned, call for the immediate removal of this inappropriate billboard as it does not reflect the kind of community we want to live in - one that is free of guns.
If you're concerned about this issue, consider sharing it with your friends so they can sign too. "
All whilst referring to a legitimate ad, by a legitimate tax paying business, attempting to do what all businesses that want to be successful need to do, generate more business.
Suggesting that somehow this business taking down it's legal advertisement will somehow contribute to a "society free from firearms" is irresponsible, misleading and on the verge of defamation to this business, and certainly not the kind of petty politics a responsible member of parliament should engage in. Australia, let's stand up to this bogus point scoring shallow bullcrap, and make our elected officials think before engaging in these wasteful actions. Sign this petition if you think an appropriate consequence for this kind of pointless under-researched diatribe should be public flogging, where the government is mandated to pay for the popcorn.
We, the undersigned, are sick of bogus politicians taking reckless and ill conceived action in response to outraged bored people with nothing better to do with their lives than make baseless accusations about legitimate advertising, because it hurts their feelings.
For politicians to entertain this kind of blatant and petty actions, which has the side effect of damaging a legitimate business and hurting the family that runs it, is inexcusable. We demand that such actions should be punishable by public flogging, in which the local council of the area should pay for the popcorn for the witnesses.
