Due to recent violent school shootings taking lives of hundreds of innocent children and school teachers, we have to address school safety and security at a new level. It is up to us - the residents of Sunny Isles Beach, the teachers and the parents to take active and effective actions towards ensuring the safety of our children. It has come to our attention that there are several improvements that can be performed with the help of the community to raise the security level in the public school of Sunny Isles Beach. We urge you to sign the petition that will be forwarded to the appropriate representatives of Miami-Dade legislature and request that immediate action is taken.
We, the undersigned residents, teachers and PTSA members of the Norman S. Edelcup/Sunny Isles Beach K-8, call on the Miami-Dade legislatures to take actions in improving our school security, including but not limited to school hardening, metal frames, active shooter trainings for teachers, etc promptly in the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.
