Pounds are continually becoming more and more crowded so more and more animals most be put to sleep everyday. We have created the horrible situation that these animals are in and we need to be the ones to get them out.
Almost 4,000,000 that's FOUR MILLION out of about 7 million cats and dogs alone are put to sleep every year. That's the same more than the amount of the Jewish community killed by Hitler during WWII. About 71% of cats and 56% of dogs don't make it out of the shelters alive. The reason this is happening is because people are not spaying and neutering their pets, people who can't take care of pets are buying them and we are breeding them faster than we are breeding humans.
Above all else pet shops are animal cruelty in themselves, cats and dogs are forced to sit in there dank, dirty cages. They live and breath in their own fecal matter till on day they are freed from their cages. If this is not animal cruelty I don't know what is.
We, the undersigned, call the United States Congress to make it illegal for pet shops to sell animals in a commercial setting.
