Are you aware that most cell phones have GPS? Are you also aware that the carrier can activate the GPS to help you if your phone was stolen, lost or taken from you during a robbery or assault?
I am as a result of an attempted robbery on me as I was walking from my business at 10 PM at night after closing my business. I was approached by 2 robbers with hoodies and masks demanding money, I hit one who ran and the other grabbed my cell phone and also ran. After the State Police arrived in 5 minutes they told me to call my cell carrier and ask them to activate the GPS in hope of getting the location of the phone that was taken.
The carrier refused my request and also after speaking with the police they refused. Think about it if they had complied there was a very strong chance the 2 robbers would have been caught. I was lucky not to have been hurt or killed as they were armed.
I think it is appalling that the phone companies will not cooperate with the authorities under these conditions.
We are asking cell phone carriers to cooperate with law enforcement when asked to activate cell phone GPS to help solve a crime.
We the owners demand that a request by us or the authorities on our behalf be carried out quickly and effectively in matters of crime and cell owners danger.
