Does Indian Trail need to extend our contract for law
enforcement services with the Union County Sheriff's
Office (UCSO)?

  • Indian Trail residents said YES. The results of a
    2008 Town wide survey revealed that Indian Trail residents
    are satisfied with the service provided by the Sheriff’s Office
    with over 90% of respondents calling for an increase in the
    number of Sheriff Deputies.
  • An independent study said YES. In 2008, a valid and
    unbiased UNC Charlotte study investigated the advantages
    and disadvantages of establishing an independent police
    department. They reported that an independent police
    department for the Town of Indian Trail would be cost
    prohibitive (raise taxes by more than 100%) and would not
    guarantee better service.
