In 2004, when we bought our building in Suffolk County Long Island, we were told the property tax would be reduced by half and that we should expect an increase of only about $5,000.00 a year moving forward.
The first year we paid a little of $50,000.00 in property tax, by the sixth year we were paying over $100,000.00. This year our property tax is $147,000.00. We feel that the increase is unbelievably high and unfair. Our company provides jobs for over 130 employees from the local area. This tax is hurting us and our employees.
We know we are not alone and many other businesses are feeling the burden as well. We are asking our neighboring businesses to support us in our efforts to appeal to IDA, Town of Babylon and reduce this burden.
We the businesses of Suffolk County call on the Town to lower our property taxes, this burden has become too great for us to bear.
We are providing the local residents with stable employment and a means to provide for their families so that they can continue to live on the island.
We will no longer be able to adequately do that if the Town does not do something to lower our taxes.
