Target:
Petition signed by parents and community presented to LBUSD
Region:
United States of America

• Beginning September 2018, Kettering will provide interim housing for 7 schools until at least 2025. Other LBUSD schools will only host for as little as 2 years. (This means all children at Kettering now, including the next two incoming kinder classes will never enjoy Kettering for what it was designed as, a small neighborhood school).

• The student population will double for the next 8-10 years.

• Increased traffic and parking challenges at pick up and drop off (Expect an extra 100-250 cars fighting for the same parking spots). Student safety will be compromised.

• Four of the schools have the same bell schedule as Kettering. No plan in place for managing shared space during recess and lunch breaks.

We, the undersigned, call on the LBUSD to reduce the burden on Kettering Elementary located at 550 Silvera Avenue in Long Beach, California imposed by Measure E. 8-10 years is too big of an impact on our small school and community. We demand that the burden be shared more equally throughout the district, thus reducing the impact to our school and community.
