Lidl propose to refurbish and subdivide the existing former PC World unit to form a new Lidl store and a small retail unit. The refurbished unit will feature an attractive, single storey glazed frontage to Chester Road, with car park extending to the east, south and west of the store.

The Lidl store will extend to 2,953 sq. metres gross external area (GEA), with a net retail sales area of 1,363 sq. metres. The new store will feature a dedicated in-store bakery close to the main entrance. The delivery bay will be located to the west of the store. The ancillary small retail unit will measure 526 sq. meters (GIA) with the entrance located on the north-eastern elevation of the building.

Access to the site will be taken from Ravenswood Road along the site’s eastern boundary as per the existing arrangement for the site. The car park will provide 103 standard parking spaces, with 8 disabled spaces, and 8 parent and child spaces, which will be positioned close to the customer entrance. The car park will provide 119 spaces in total.

The existing dedicated pedestrian access from Ravenswood Road will be maintained, giving direct access to the store entrance through the car park. Pedestrians will also be able to access the store from Chester Road through the proposed stepped access adjacent to the existing bus stop. Bicycle parking will be provided under the entrance canopy on the northern elevation, close to the store entrance and pedestrian access route.

The new Lidl store will provide the following benefits to the local area:

- Improved shopping choice and provision of a new mainstream discount retail
operator for Baguley;
- A refurbished store that will provide a clean and fresh shopping experience to
meet the needs of customers;
- A dedicated in-store bakery;
- A contemporary building design that will complement the surrounding area;
- 40 employment opportunities for local residents; and
- Living Wage Foundation rate for all eligible employees and no zero hours
contacts.
