As told by the principal at Woodridge Elementary School, the children are allowed 10-15 minutes to eat their lunch. They come in from recess, without washing hands, and consume their lunch in an unhealthy timeframe.
In the winter months, they must wear their snowpants and boots to lunch as well. Observed by parents and grandparents, majority of lunches are thrown away. Many parents report their children bringing home the majority of their lunches as well.
Children need food for energy. Without eating, children will not learn as well. The principal was contacted and no resolution or change was made. We, as advocates for our children, need to request a change be made for the better.
We, the parents, friends, and/or relatives, of a Woodridge Elementary Student request that our children's lunch time be increased in order for them to actual eat their lunch.
The allotted 10-15 minutes, sometimes with winter clothing on, is not enough time to eat. We request that length of time for lunch be increased with no effect to the amount of recess time.
