Did you know that students at BHES have one 20 minute recess a day? Did you also know that before they are REQUIRED to walk laps before they are allowed to play? Walking can take up several minutes of their minimal 20 minute recess time! We believe that unstructured time benefits our children academically, emotionally, socially and physically. We believe that recess is their time to spend how they wish, no matter what that looks like. We believe our children should be allowed to PLAY. If we get enough support, this petition will be presented to the principal.
The undersigned parents and guardians of Bradford Heights students are dissatisfied with the required walking during recess. We are asking the school to eliminate required walking at recess and allow our children to engage in activities of their choosing.
