I formed this petition to legalize cannabis in the state of Virginia. Any statement that refers to cannabis being harmful is false. Such as, it kills brain cells, it causes cancer, or that it is a gateway drug. All of these statements have been proven to be not true in recent years.
Cannabis can be used for recreational purposes and medicinal purposes. If it was legalized this would help to to regulate the drug and not allow a person not of age to buy or sell it. It can also be taxed and the money be put back into the government. This could in turn help the state in the recession. The medicinal purposes of this are that it is used as a pain killer.
It actually has been proven to have less negative effects on ones health then all prescription pain killers and even Advil. Prohibition did not work with alcohol it just made a bigger organized crime industry. That is what this prohibition is doing with cannabis. Help me end this war on a non-harmful drug by signing this petition.
We, the undersigned, want the senate of the state of Virginia to legalize cannabis. For recreational usage and medicinal usage.
