In the year 2017 we now have multiple states that have legalized recreational marijuana and even more allowing medical marijuana. Information from sources like the Drug policy alliance as well as others have been brought in to confirm marijuana can be used for medicine, the economy, and can lower crime all across the country. By criminalizing a substance with medical value and other positive benefits, the federal government is restricting our liberties as an American citizen with no validity to its claims of marijuana having no medical value. It is clear now that if our federal government will not uphold our rights, the state of Missouri and the government that represents it is responsible to do right by our people.
We, the undersigned call on the Missouri State House, The Missouri State Senate, and Governor Eric Greitens to legalize marijuana for recreational use.
