Target:
City of Kingman
Region:
United States of America

Many passionate citizens of Kingman, Arizona are dedicated to making positive change in our community and its environment. The EPA estimates that 75% of solid waste is recyclable; however, only about 30% is actually recycled.
A great number of our residents have expressed their desire to recycle if the city had a more convenient means to do so. The system we have now simply does not work for the majority of our citizens.
Though we appreciate the few drop off recycling receptacles around town, it requires storage capacity, time, and transportation to fully participate in this current program. Many do not have these luxuries.
Curbside recycling would solve this problem.
Recycling takes the pressure off already crowded landfills and reduces the pollution associated with producing new materials like plastic and glass. Because the aforementioned factors can hinder local recycling, many easily recyclable items such as cardboard and aluminum cans are taking up unnecessary space in our community landfills.
Curbside recycling would remedy this problem.
Our neighborhoods are often littered with trash from garbage receptacles overflowing.
Curbside recycling would greatly reduce this problem.
Additionally, curbside recycling would mitigate the need for two weekly trash pick-ups, as is the current standard. With a dedicated recycling receptacle, the city could possibly devote one of the existing trips to a recycling pick-up.

I sign this the petition to encourage our city of Kingman to implement a more convenient curbside recycling program.
