#Roads & Transport
Target:
MP Jim Shannon
Region:
United Kingdom

The traffic situation and junction at Loughries Integrated Primary School needs urgent remedial action with regard to the unrestricted speed of passing vehicles and the dangerous line-of-sight deficiency.

Indeed, the situation has become so bad (especially during school opening and closing times) that both parents and residents are fearful that sooner or later children or adults may be knocked down.

Vigorous effective traffic calming measures need to be implemented in order to not only restrict vehicle speed but also to make it a safe environment for parents, children, local residents - and drivers too.

The local MP, Roads service and PSNI are aware of the situation, but even though these problems were raised a year ago, no substantial remedial action has taken place.

This petition is addressed to those who have responsibility for such safety matters to propose suitable and EFFECTIVE remedies to the concerns of all members of the public who travel through Loughries and/or who use the School.

We envision a proposal to include speed bumps, traffic light/pedestrian crossing, a footpath a bus shelter and parking facilities.

Please be advised that we have waited long enough.

We, the undersigned call on the executives responsible (in whatever Government Departments) for safety measures to be urgently implemented to ensure the safety of children, parents, residents and road users at Loughries.

We envision a proposal to include speed bumps, traffic light/pedestrian crossing, a footpath a bus shelter and parking facilities.
