Kettlethorpe High School Mobile Policy

I'm asking Kettlethorpe school to review their school policy with regards to mobiles phones their policy states

*Mobile phones, which are brought into school Must be Turned off (not placed on silent) and stored out of sight (in a bag, not pockets) Immediately as the pupil arrives at the school gate. They must remain turned off and out of sight. Until the pupil had left the site at the end of the day.

so when children are waiting for a bus on school grounds they cant use their phones and are being confiscated if they are used. We have been told they must leave school grounds to use the phone, meaning if the bus comes they will miss it as they are given numbers and will go to the back of the queue, when my daughters bus is the only bus to ours, there is no other bus.

The letter I have sent to the school is below,

Dear School Governors
I’m writing to you after speaking with Ofsted, to ask for one of your school policies regarding mobile phones,

The Policy States
Mobile phones, which are brought into school Must be Turned off (not placed on silent) and stored out of sight (in a bag, not pockets) Immediately as the pupil arrives at the school gate. They must remain turned off and out of sight. Until the pupil had left the site at the end of the day.
I Agree with most of this just the ending, I would like to put this forward for review.
While children are waiting for buses they are on site and can not use their phones, this to me is too harsh
As children who are in line waiting for a bus can not answer phones even though school has officially finished; we have been told they have to be off school grounds meaning losing their place in the bus queue. The response we got from the teacher is to call the office / reception number and they would pass a message on but; I fail to see how this would get to the child if the call comes in after 3.05pm.
My proposal is that, once school has finished at 3.05pm children can use their phones when waiting for a bus so us parents can get in touch with our children.
