Skateboarding is a sport that has been around for years.

It is part of Bournemouths culture recognised and enjoyed by many people, young and old, of various backgrounds.

A recent article in the Bournemouth echo has suggested that because of an isolated incident where a lady collided with a skateboarder and broke her arm, the council are looking into banning or prohibition skateboard use in the square.

The square being a wide open space which has seen the likes of buskers, bands, performers, etc.

The article states "The police have also said that concerns about skateboarders have come from Bournemouth council.and town rangers rather than members of the public".

The article also states that"no direct calls reporting antisocial behaviour in relation to the skateboarders have been received between Jan 1 and June 16 of this year".

We the undersigned urge Cllr David Smith to consider the rights of skaters, and to also consider the relavent information above in relation to these skateboarders being pleasant, non trouble making members of society enjoyin some freedom and uniting with other like minded souls.

Please DO NOT prohibit/ban skateboarding in the square.
