Little London Primary School (Now known as one of the Fibbersley Park Sites) Closes in July 2007 (post code WV13 2PG).

Walsall Council has stated they are only interested in selling the site for Housing Development. Approaches made by a newly formed local charity "Willenhall School of Hope" have been told they will not provide "best consideration".

The charity is looking to provide mentoring, training and vocational opportunities to people who live in or around the area of Willenhall to help them realise their full potential as individuals. In order to achieve this the charity aims to bring together diverse and thriving enterprises that will support local people and enable them to acquire new skills or further develop their present skills to a higher level.

The School of Hope will offer training, education and help in every day life. The aim is to strengthen the community and provide access to professional help and advice. It is all about bringing fresh hope to people of the town and improving their sense of wellbeing, especially those who feel they have missed out.

The Community of Willenhall has seen many years of decline following the demise of the Lock Industry. This has culminated in the closure of the former Yale Factory, and C.E.Marshall (now part of Assa Abloy). Redevelopment in the town will see these factories turn into housing and shopping areas. But many of the residents of Willenhall (34% of the working population) have been employed in the manufacturing industry and now it is time for them to retrain and change their way of life.

Willenhall also has a large proportion of its population who are unqualified and lacking in basic skills. The School of Hope aims to help people to re-skill and retrain, as well as conquer basic needs. It looks to assist people as they go through this transition. The site of Little London School is seen as key to assisting the delivery of these services. We hope to help people to achieve their potential in employment terms and also in personal achievement.

In order to achieve their best we also need to help people to overcome difficulties and problems, and once again the Willenhall School of Hope aims to provide chances for people to fight homelessness, illiteracy, loneliness, debt, and oppression through inviting outside agencies to advise and counsel those with problems.

The Willenhall School of Hope is also aware of the ecological issues that face the local community. It aims to provide a place where recycling, fair trade and organic produce are central to its core objectives.

We, the undersigned, call on Walsall Council to re-consider their plans to dispose of the Little London School site for Housing development.

We support the Willenhall School of Hope Project and their proposal to use the site to develop and deliver community services for the benefit of the people of Willenhall and the surrounding area.
