Scout Clean Energy (SCE), a Colorado-based entity, has submitted an application to the Washington State Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) to construct and operate the Horse Heaven Hills Wind Farm.
Up to 244 wind turbines will stretch 24 miles from Finley to Benton City along the ridgeline overlooking the Tri-Cities. Each wind tower will be up to 671'' tall from ground to blade tip and will be visible for at least 20 miles. They will create environmental problems such as noise, flashing red lights and visual pollution that will change the rural environment and skyline of the Tri-Cities forever. Also, a majority of the turbines will be in the large migratory bird and bat flyway.
In addition, the energy generated will not be used in the Tri-Cities area but will be distributed to the west side and California.
We, the undersigned, oppose the construction and operation of the Horse Heaven Hills Wind Farm being proposed by Scout Clean Energy. We call upon EFSEC to reject SCE's permit application for this project. This project will forever alter the scenic views of our ridges, industrialize our rural environment, and change our outdoor quality of life.
Say NO to the Horse Heaven Hills Wind Farm.
