English language residents and students are a minority in Hearst. Clayton Brown Public School is currently one of the last remaining institutions in the community where English culture and language is promoted. Elementary students at this school have the opportunity to benefit from this atmosphere, and secondary students should be provided with the same benefits.
The conversion of Clayton Brown Public School to a JK to 12 school would provide secondary students with an opportunity to also enjoy this climate as well as providing them with the chance to learn in an environment where administrative control of the building lies with their own Principal. This would guarantee that organizational decisions would be made with their best interests at heart.
We, the undersigned, call on the Ministry of Education to provide the necessary funding for the renovation project of Clayton Brown Public School, to a JK-12 English language educational facility.
