Texas' power grid failed during a major winter storm in February. The causes and consequences are not well understood and need to be investigated by an independent commission. The commission should include representatives of all relevant stakeholders, including consumers and subject matter experts. The target of the petition will be the Governor of Texas and the members of the Texas Legislature.
Governor Abbott and/or the Texas Legislature should establish an independent commission to investigate (1) the causes of the February electrical grid failure, (2) determine steps that should be taken to insure such a failure does not occur again, and (3) do a complete accounting on the approximately $50 billion that was charged during the crisis. The commission should include representatives of all relevant stakeholders, including consumers and subject matter experts.
