Mercer University Dining Services

United States of America

The Mercer University Dining services and affiliating restaurants (Panda Express and Chick-fil-A) employ a wasteful practice that we feel can be easily remedied through the use of reusable dining containers, like the system used in the cafeteria. We feel that by allowing students the option to bring reusable containers to Panda Express and other dining areas of the Mercer Campus there could be a large reduction in the amount of plastic, styrophome, and paper thrown out and wasted. Also, this shift could be cost-effective for the university and affiliated restaurants by reducing the materials needed to maintain business, while bringing a slight profit through the sale of these containers. Plastic waste is an issue we hope to tackle through the introduction of reusable cups, and containers to these dining services helping to make Mercer and our surrounding community cleaner and more eco-friendly. By signing this petition you support this initiative and would like to see it come to fruition in the near future. Change your dining experience, help your environment.

We, the undersigned, call on Mercer University and its affiliated dining services, to introduce the use of reusable containers, such as cups and plates, in all eating areas and replace their current wasteful system. Plastic and nonbiodegradable material waste is a major environmental issue, and we would like to see Mercer address this issue in its various dining services.
