On Sunday, February 10th, Florida Panthers Player Richard Zednik #20, was injured in a freak accident. One of his teammates fell and his leg came up in the air striking Zednik in the neck with the blade of his teammates skate.

Richard lost 5 units of blood in front of a packed stadium, as he fell to the floor. He was able to get up and skate to his team's bench where help was available. He was then rushed to the hospital.

The game was on hold for 15 minutes and a decision was made by Commissioner Bettman to proceed with the game, of which there was approximately 9 minutes left. I assure you that the teams’ minds were not on the game, but on their fellow teammate.

We, the undersigned, request commissioner Bettman to instate a rule stating that when a player is hurt and the incident is, or could have been, life threatening, the game shall end.

The score shall either stand as is or the game be replayed at a later date, that decision to be made at the time of the incident by the coaches and the commissioner.
