Install Speed Humps on Manitoba Street, Etobicoke

Situation: the petition that you signed was for the installation of speed bumps between Royal York and Legion Road. After consultation with the transportation department and analysis of signatures received, the petition has had to be adjusted for installation of speed bumps on Manitoba Street between Milton Street and Grand Avenue instead.

Background:
In order for a petition to be successful, it requires signatures of at least 25% of the households on the street. The original petition you signed was for the installation of speed bumps between Royal York and Legion Road. We did not achieve 25% for this petition.

Assessment:
After consulting with the Transportation Department I learned that there is a plan for traffic calming in the future, between Grand Avenue and Legion Road once the new condo building is built on the south side of Manitoba Street near Grand Avenue. The transportation department advised that if a petition for this area is submitted, it will decrease the chances of it being successful.
Signatures acquired between Grand Avenue and Royal York Road was only 9%. However signatures acquired between Grand Avenue and Milton Street was 35%.
I learned, to better our chances of moving to the next step of polling, we should adjust our petition to exclude households between Grand Avenue and Legion Rd and to rewrite the petition for it to be between Milton Street and Grand Avenue.

Recommendation: Therefore, moving forward we are pursuing a petition for speed bumps between Milton Street and Grand Avenue.
