Through Latvia babybox - 17babies saved, 12 babies adopted, 2 of the adopted babies - parents changed their mind, took the baby with them.

South Korea- during 2years: 26 babies abandoned.

There is only one baby box installed in South Korea in Seoul.

We, the undersigned, call on the South Korean government to install more baby boxes. Baby boxes can save the babies.

South Korea's channel, KBS, presented in the news on January 11th, 2013 that the rate of abandoned babies increased 2.5times compared to 2009 (132 babies were abandoned). And in some cases, infanticides occur, too. This is too cruel for babies, when they are killed even though they can feel pain.

Parents often put the babies in plastic bags and throw them into trash cans or flush them in the toilets. Many babies are abandoned in terrible ways. Baby box can save the babies from the situation and it provides warm shelter for them. In Latvia, baby box saved many babies.

In 2006, before babybox was installed, 9 abandoned babies were found dead, but in 2009, after it was installed, the number decreased to 4. Through Latvia baby box, 17babies were saved, 12 babies were adopted, and in case of the 2 adopted babies, parents changed their mind and took the babies with them. Some people argue that baby boxes make people to abandon their babies easily because they protect the parents' anonymity.

However, baby box can prevent the babies from being killed at least. And also, there is a phrase in front of the baby box that reminds the parents to reconsider if they really can't raise their babies. Baby box take babies from those who finished their final decision.

Parents who abandon their babies might not feel comfortable to send off their babies away from them. They have sad reasons for their action.
